Luther Bean Museum – This museum is located in Richardson Hall, on the 2nd floor at Adams State University campus. Founded by the Colorado General Assembly in 1921, the museum was opened to public in 15thJune 1925. The structure that houses the museum was the very first building to grace the premises of university. The museum’s exquisite art collection includes delicate pieces of pottery as well.
Zapata Falls – Zapata Falls is a hidden Colorado gem – a sight to behold. The views of the Sand Dunes and valley are panoramic from Zapata Falls. The cascading falls are especially striking in winter when it freezes over. During the fall and summer seasons, the water is cold and the rocks, slippery. So, visitors need to be extra careful while walking in that area. Carrying your jacket, even in the summer will prove to be handy as air temperatures inside the alcove can be considerably low.
There are four miles of well-marked mountain biking and hiking trails below the parking area. Reaching into the mountain peaks and wilderness region is available on Forest Service Trail #852 that has its entrance in the parking area. The trail follows South Zapata Creek to South Zapata Lake.
