Lao Airlines was established as the national air carrier of the newly founded Lao PDR. The airline was initially known as the Civil Aviation Company. Lao Airlines is a result of the merger between Lao Air Lines and the Royal Air Lao. The airline is headquartered at Vientiane and its major hub is situated at Wattay International Airport (VTE) in Laos.
