Lao Airlines was established as the national air carrier of the newly founded Lao PDR. The airline was initially known as the Civil Aviation Company. Lao Airlines is a result of the merger between Lao Air Lines and the Royal Air Lao. The airline is headquartered at Vientiane and its major hub is situated at Wattay International Airport (VTE) in Laos.

Lao Airlines has interline agreements with about 26 carriers such as Hainan Airlines, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Aeroflot, Etihad Airways, Bangkok Airways to name a few.  “Champa Muang Lao” is the airline’s frequent-flyer program that allows passengers to avail various kinds of benefits.

Connectivity and Fleet Size

Lao Airlines has a fleet size of around 11 aircraft which comprises of ATR 72-500, ATR 72 -600 and Airbus A320 200.

Carry-On Baggage

Passengers traveling in the Economy Class are permitted to carry up-to 1 piece as carry-on baggage. The weight of the bag shouldn’t exceed over 15 lbs. and the total size of the bag shouldn’t measure more than 12 x 24 x 7 inches.

In addition to the standard carry-on bag, one can also carry a personal item such as handbag, overcoat, umbrella, reading materials, walking stick etc.

Checked Baggage

An adult passenger traveling in the Economy Class is permitted to bring a bag weighing up to 44 lbs.

A child passenger traveling on either Economy or Business class is allowed to bring a bag not weighing more than 22 lbs.

Passengers traveling in the Business Class can bring a bag not weighing more than 66 lbs.
