Founded on December 16, 1959 with a slogan ‘Journey with a caring smile,’ China Airlines is the primary and major airline of the Republic of China (Taiwan) with three other airline holdings that is, Mandarin Airlines, China Airlines Cargo, and Tigerair Taiwan. It’s headquarter is located in Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. In the US, China Airlines operates private bus services in selected cities for airport transfers. Since 2012, China Airlines has been participating in the pacific Greenhouse Gases measurement project too.
Connectivity and Fleet Size
China Airline runs over 1,400 flights weekly to 118 airports in 115 cities. Over the period from 2015 to 2020, the airline will be expanding different networks including European, North American, and Oceanian with the new long-Haul fleet.
As of 31 January, 2017, China Airlines consists of a total number of 99 in-service aircraft which includes 78 passenger jets and 21 Freighters i.e. Airbus A330-300 (24), Airbus A340-300 (5), Airbus A350-900 (4), Boeing 737-800 (22), Boeing 747-400 (13), Boeing 777-300ER (10), and Boeing 747-400F (21).
Meal Services: In each Class, flyers can request for special meals at the time of booking or in the flight including religious, children’s, and vegetarian, kosher and other meals. It also offers refreshments and snack boxes. The airlines also provide authentic cuisines from famous Taiwanese restaurants mostly to First Class and Business passengers. Please note that mixed nuts are offered to passengers in all classes before flight.
Self-Service Galley Bar: China Airlines Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 features a galley barthat serves coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks, cup noodles, and snacks.
In-flight entertainment: Over 100 movies, TV programs, music, and video games are offered to its flyers. Also, Fantasy Sky, the in-flight entertainment system of China Airlines is available on all aircrafts excluding the Boeing 737-800 in three different languages to choose from - Chinese, English and Japanese.
In-flight Wi-Fi connectivity: China Airlines passengers can avail the facility of internet connection by paying through the system. However, phone calls and video chat are strictly prohibited during the flight.
In-flight magazines: China Airlines has a couple of in-flight magazines in store for its passengers namely, DYNASTY, the China Airlines magazine, Fantasy Sky, China Airlines in-flight entertainment guide, Sky Boutique, and China Airlines duty-free catalogue.
Carry-On Baggage: For all travel classes, each carry-on baggage may not exceed 22 * 14 * 9 inches (56* 36* 23 cm) in size or 7 kg above in weight.
The baggage will be permitted only if it can be easily placed under the passenger’s seat or in the overhead bin.
In addition to the above mentioned cabin baggage, each passenger is allowed to carry one piece from the following personal special items which include umbrella, infants napkins, feeding bottle, reading material, handbag, wallet, small camera or a pair of binoculars, laptop, mobility aids, artificial limbs, strollers, canes etc.
Checked Baggage: According to the given instructions, your baggage should not exceed 32 kg (70lb) per piece.
In case your checked baggage exceeds 32 kg weight, your baggage will not be permitted.
