Cathay Dragon is the operating brand of Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Ltd. Cathay Dragon reservations are available to destinations across Asia. The airline is a fully owned subsidiary of Hong Kong’s national airline, Cathay Pacific.

Cathay Dragon was founded in May, 1985. The maiden Cathay Dragon flight flew from Hong Kong to Malaysia in July, 1985. The airline’s main hub is located at Hong Kong International Airport. It is affiliated with the international airline alliance Oneworld. Its frequent flyer program is called The Marco Polo Club.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Cathay Dragon allows its passengers to carry one bag onboard that must fit in the overhead bin. The maximum dimensions of the bag must not exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches including wheels, handles and side pockets.

Flyers can also carry one personal item such as a briefcase, camera bag, small backpack, laptop bag and small handbag. The article must fit in the seat in front of you and must not exceed 6x12x16 inches.

The combined carry-on weight must not exceed 15 lbs. in Economy and Premium Economy Class, 22 lbs. in Business Class and 33 lbs. in First Class.

Checked Baggage

Passengers making Cathay Dragon bookings, please note that there are a few exceptions on these allowances on flights to Americas and Auckland/Christchurch.

Economy Class passengers can check-in up to 2 pieces of baggage not exceeding 50 lbs. each.

Premium Economy Class passengers can check-in up to 2 pieces of baggage not exceeding 55 lbs. each.

Passengers flying with First Class and Business Class tickets can check-in up to 2 pieces of baggage not exceeding 70 lbs. each.
